Moonlight on the Windowsill

After the rain, a silver line settled along the windowsill and turned the quiet kitchen into a small observatory. Mara put the kettle on and watched the garden collect the last of the afternoon light.

By the time the tea was ready, the moon had risen above the rooftops. She opened the back door, listened to the dripping leaves, and decided that an ordinary evening could still be worth remembering.
